Social Media Fast Day 2, Dad Fest at Thrive, and a Tremendously Powerful Story from Sunday @Thrive

I did it! I stayed off of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for an entire day! To be honest, it’s really not that big of a deal! But, hey, I did it! And Day 2 is half over!! Woo Hoo!

Social Media FAST is on like Donkey Kong!

Again, I’m doing this because I think my soul needs some recharging and I’m just trying to push out some clutter. I don’t think social media is bad, in fact, I love it! I actually think it’s one of the greatest tools EVER for advancing the Kingdom!

I don’t spend all that much time on it, but I did want to see if I could spend the same amount of time in scripture or reading that I spend with social media. So far, so good. I’m into 3 Bible reading plans and I read a half a book!

Also, it was really nice and unexpected to get a few texts from some folks who told me they look forward to my posts and will miss them! I was really surprised by that! Most of the time, I feel like I don’t have anything really profound to say, so I just post pictures and stuff. So, that was nice! But, day 2 is on!

This past Sunday, Thrive hosted its annual Dad Fest and it was an awesome Sunday! We changed things up and moved it to the campus of CMU. We met outside and had one combined experience and it rocked! Our past Dad Fest’s have had lots of stuff going on and this one was just pretty chill. We worshipped outdoors and we just enjoyed gathering together as a Church family! IMG_1081

The all dad band kicked us off with ‘Free Bird’ and it was amazing! Then, our hosts lead some Dads through some games and then the worship team lead us in worship. We finished week two of our ‘Grow a Pair’ series and I took a look at the story of David and Goliath and challenged folks to BECOME FIXATED ON TRUSTING GOD! Oh, and, our events did set up the Dad Tent and we had many bacon covered items, it was AWESOME!

Powerful Story

On Sunday, two different brothers talked to me how they have been praying for their dad for a long time! Well, recently, their dad has been checking out Thrive. At one point, one brother told me how awesome it’s been to have his dad at Thrive and then later in the morning, the other brother told me how moved he was that his dad was coming.

And then, he looked over and one of our elders was praying for his dad and he just welled up in tears! It was a powerful moment!

God is MOVING! He is working in peoples lives and I’m so honored to be a part of it!
