A few weeks ago, I posted part one of ’10 ways to help your church grow.‘
These first 5 mainly dealt with the philosophy of church growth. They looked at internal things we all can be doing inside our hearts and minds.
The next 5, yeah, these are nitty gritty things we all can do everyday to help our church grow and thrive.
Grow and Thrive
And, isn’t that what we want? Don’t we want more people to find Jesus and follow Him? Don’t we want to explode outside of our church buildings and live out Jesus in our neighborhoods?
YES WE DO!
So, here are 5 easy ways to help your Church grow
6. Step in to serve and Step up to lead
There is really no reason to step back. Maybe you think life is too hectic right now, maybe you’re overwhelmed, maybe you think there are plenty of volunteers or maybe you’re waiting to be asked.
Whatever your reason is, know this…
No, seriously, you are needed. It’s time to Step IN and Step UP.
Today, look over your churches volunteer opportunities and get involved. I promise you that there are plenty of spots available.
Just do it!
7. Protect your church.
The best way to protect your church is to NEVER let gossip get ahold of you or anyone else in your community.
Seriously, If you ever hear gossip coming out of your muth or of someone bad mouthing anyone in the church, confront it.
On top of that, if you or anyone else in your circle is speaking poorly or negatively of any other local church, local leaders or local businesses…
Oh, and stop being middle schoolers on Facebook. If you’re going to use Facebook, use it to encourage, support and cheer people on!
8. Be the Church during the week
We all know that Church is just not on Sunday’s. There are 6 other days to the week! Sometimes we treat it that way, but it’s so much more than a weekly gathering. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a HUGE part of it. But the other 6 days are just as important.
Are you reaching out to your neighbors?
Do you represent Jesus and your church well in your neighborhood? At work?
Are you meeting in small groups?
Are you giving your time to your neighbors?
9. Live out the New Testament’s ‘One Another’s
Ok, there are 59 of these, here are just a few…
“…Be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)
“…Love one another…” (John 15:12)
“…Live in harmony with one another…” (Romans 12:16)
“…Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10)
“…Stop passing judgment on one another.” (Romans 14:13)
“…Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you…” (Romans 15:7)
10. Support and lift up the Pastor and Staff
This is just huge! If you find yourself talking about, whining about, saying negative things about your pastor or any staff member…
Look for ways to support and pray for and lift up your pastor.
